As an anthropologist I am keen to extend the application of anthropological approaches to both clinic and community to strengthen public health. I was a Wellcome trust – PHFI doctoral fellow at University College London. I was awarded PhD in Medical Anthropology and Cultural Psychiatry on the topic Cultivating Distress: Farmer Suicides And Local Mental Health in Telangana, India.
Before shifting to academics in 2009, I worked for national and international development organizations for more than a decade. My work experience includes Community-based participatory action research, Intervention and program management, Operations research and Disaster management.
My teaching and research interests include Socio-Cultural and Ecological determinants of Health and Wellbeing, Technology for inclusive heath care, Mental Health, Health Policy and Health systems research, Tribal Health, Qualitative research methodology, Ethnography of health and health care, and Community based participatory research.
